Just a thought of caution. When I lived in Fairbanks, we would get water from this spring. However, it does have fairly high concentrations of arsenic from the soil/rocks from which it emerges. The Borough used to post a print out and caution statement on a sign in the parking area, but it was frequently removed.

It was decent tasting water though. 🙂

      Bullshit, to the above post.

    • Delores says:

Some of the best water ever.  And the borough does monitor and post warnings so you always can evaluate for yourself rather than a random roadside spring with no information.  Even when I had running water, I still went to Fox to get drinking water because it was so good.

any idea on the pH or TDS?

I lived closer to Fox than Fairbanks, exactly 28 miles from Fairbanks. We had no electricity, water or any other luxury that the lower 48 had. I loved that water and I have not tasted water that good since, and I have had many a well, but nothing compares to the experience of getting water from the Fox Spring. And no one would ever think about being rude or impatient while the process of filling up whatever you used as a container. Alaska people are still the kindest, considerate, friendly and honestly would think of nothing to help someone in need. I miss living there and hope to return, maybe not to Fox, but I would go the Fox bar that included a dance floor and volleyball court outside (I think it is called the Howling Dog Saloon?, sorry but I had to leave Alaska, not of my choosing but, but because of an abusive now ex-husband. I hope if it is still there that everyone go to this establishment and have the most fun they will ever have.

Hello, As a Director with our organization, we raised enough by donation from water users to keep the water flowing another year-from July 1, 2017 to July 1, 2018. This water protecting group of caring citizens, whose intent is to keep the water in the public domain, has made an agreement with the State of Alaska Dept. of Transportation and Public Facilities to pay the bills and continue to seek donations in order that the State of AK continues to maintain and operate this precious public water resource as per the past 50+ years, and not be sold away. Water is tested monthly via DEC regulation for bacterias and a long list of other water testing for other possible contaminants during the course of the year and is completed in order to keep this public well safe for domestic use, according to the State Dept. of Environmental Conservation, Drinking Water Program. Water drinkers are safe with this water. It is cold, sweet and delicious 24/7/365.Donations are welcome on line to our fiscal agent, North Star Community Foundation on the website under FOFS group or mail to Friends of Fox Spring, PO Box 82290, Fairbanks, AK 99708 or call 907-378-6744.
