It has always been clean and great tasting. I have never felt any ill effects from it. I have sometimes kept it for over a month and it was still ok, but it's preferable to go there every couple weeks to get it fresh. Be sure to keep it in a dark place, absent from light. Bacteria can grow if there is light on it for an extended period of time. If it's in a cool and dark place it conserves itself well. Helen,

Has anyone ever tested it? When I called the ste-anne des lacs municipality they told me that they have never tested it and that it was a risk you either choose to take or not! I filled fill up 144 liters of water since its 1h from home. That will last me 1 month.
