The distance from Houston is not so bad . Does anybody knows how clean is it and if it is easy to get to the place we can fill the bottles ? First time considering doing this .Thank you

I just called the City of Humble and had a nice conversation with the Assistant City Manager (Mark). Sadly, due to subsidence issues, it is no longer functioning. It is only a historical site. Mark is an Humble native and said the water was never potable due to too much sulphur. Also, it was too close to an oil field. He said it was very warm and that oil field workers used to bath in it. What a shame!

I stopped by the artesian well today, just to see if it was still there (I remember it from my childhood.)  The wellhead is there, and there is a historical marker, and it *looks* like the well is running, but actually it’s just a fountain now.  Also I vaguely remember there used to be a gate valve on the wellhead and now there is not valve.

There is a pump that recirculates water from the pool in front of the well and it looks like it’s flowing from the well.  I’ve been told that the reason the well was capped was the EPA did not like all that mineral water being discharged into Lake Houston.
