I lived closer to Fox than Fairbanks, exactly 28 miles from Fairbanks. We had no electricity, water or any other luxury that the lower 48 had. I loved that water and I have not tasted water that good since, and I have had many a well, but nothing compares to the experience of getting water from the Fox Spring. And no one would ever think about being rude or impatient while the process of filling up whatever you used as a container. Alaska people are still the kindest, considerate, friendly and honestly would think of nothing to help someone in need. I miss living there and hope to return, maybe not to Fox, but I would go the Fox bar that included a dance floor and volleyball court outside (I think it is called the Howling Dog Saloon?, sorry but I had to leave Alaska, not of my choosing but, but because of an abusive now ex-husband. I hope if it is still there that everyone go to this establishment and have the most fun they will ever have.

Some of the best water ever. And the borough does monitor and post warnings so you always can evaluate for yourself rather than a random roadside spring with no information. Even when I had running water, I still went to Fox to get drinking water because it was so good.

Just a thought of caution. When I lived in Fairbanks, we would get water from this spring. However, it does have fairly high concentrations of arsenic from the soil/rocks from which it emerges. The Borough used to post a print out and caution statement on a sign in the parking area, but it was frequently removed.

It was decent tasting water though. :-)
