Good flow. Water flows out of a pipe created by the US Corp of Engineers. Was capable of filling
the Bay City fire department fire truck in 11 minutes. Well has a nice heavy flow.

Nearest Address

Enter Bay City Wisconsin, turn right at Main Street. Continue about 2 or three blocks. Note waving double arrow dead end sign on the left. Take the left waving arrow to the left. Continue on paved road (about a block). Road becomes gravel and go about a block. If you start to take a J turn, you have missed it by a few feet. Well is on the right and flows out of a pipe created by the US Core of Engineers.

Description

This is a great tasting cold spring inside of Petrifying Springs Park in Kenosha, WI. There are still remnants of an old stone structure downhill from the source that used to collect the water as it flowed down the hill, there is a nice meditation rock right there waiting for you. Follow the flowing water up the hill until you reach a long metal pipe which leads up to the source. This is the best tasting water I have ever had, extremely hydrating and very cold. Nearby in the park there is the reconstruction of the old well house with an artesian well that works. The water from the well smells like it has a high sulfur count although the water from the spring does not have an odor.

Description:

Spring flows from a pipe, is well guarded by thick, thorny plants. The Wilson’s had a homestead on this site beginning in 1911. I imagine the pipe is from that time. Nothing but stone, concrete, and the pipe remains. A bent tree near the path points to the exact location of this water source. This spring is located on the upper edge of a canyon of sandstone carved by the flow of several springs. The area is the “driftless area,” having never been covered by glaciers.

Nearest Address

4175 Highway 23 N. Dodgeville, Wisconsin 53533

Directions from Nearest Address

In Governor Dodge Park, go all the way to the Northern end of the Cox Hollow Campground, and park near campsite 76. Follow a gravel trail, take a left on a grassy trail, walk past a scenic overlook and there will soon be a sign for the spring house (which is mostly dry inside), look to the left of the main trail and you will see a bent tree which points to where the piped spring is actually located, about fifteen feet off the trail to the left in thick brush.
