Description
The spring is in the woods up a pretty steep trail behind the factory. There is a cement trough where the spring used to be when it was used for the old bottling company. The pipe where the spring comes out directly is black and short. It empties into a eroded hole and down the mountain. The trail is slightly steep walking up the semi obvious trail but it is worth the less than quarter mile walk. Not accessible by car to the source but you can park the car near by.

Next to a large sycamore tree, under a small spring house. The spring house has a marble statue of a woman on top. You will need to a ladle or a cup to reach into the spring house.
The spring was used on the Vassar estate to feed large fountains. The walking trails have a guided tour map that shows you ruins and tells you about the history of the spring. Originally the statue on the spring house was a dog.

Description
Restored with hand pump, in a clearing surrounded by woods. Sounds silly but you need to bring a gallon of water to prime the pump. There is a small stream that runs along a stone wall if you want to use that for priming.
On a sign next to the spring: “When Mother Cabrini purchased this property in 1890 to establish an orphanage for girls, there was no water to be found on its grounds. Through the grace of God, Mother Cabrini told here sisters to dig in this spot. Water came forth, which continues to flow and to provide water for the children of St. Cabrini Home today.”

Not sure, usually 24 hours but I have heard it is sometimes closed when the Marines are using the field for a party. (You have to walk thru the field to get to the spring.) The spring is on private property owned by the Marine Corps League, a fraternal group for current and former members of the service, but the fountain is open to the public when they are not using the field.
