This spring is full on year round. Drive up to the very end of Elkford Road (it is indeed a dead end) and walk in about forty feet. Fresh live Clean spring water. the spring it self is up one tier of rock about thirty feet. So the water fall you can see and hear before you even get out of your vehicle is not the actual spring. The Spring itself is about thirty feet from the falls. The neigbourhood has it tested every so often and always crystal clear water. Turbidity can be high after a good storm.

Although it’s not ultra low TDS like the Kearney Natural Spring, there is NO question about it, this Metcalfe Rock Spring in Kolapore Uplands is indeed very special, it’s has a blueish, purple violet colour that you can clearly see in the vid & pic. I believe this water is coming from or running along an ancient underground glacier in that area. My only water sample did show levels of both Total Colifrm & E.Coli bacteria in the water, so you are drinking this water at your own risk. A nice mineral spring located a few minutes away from the last remaining covered bridge in Ontario. This is a cleaner, deeper water source than the West Montrose Spring ( across from the campground, 6344 Line 86 ) which appears to be more of a shallow well.

From Baker Street, go up the hill on Josepine. Make a left on Gore and take it all the way. Park at the parking lot at the end of Gore. The trail runs right through the parking lot. Walk East with the lake on your left for about 15-20 minutes until you see a massive rock wheel. The creek from the spring runs behind the rock wheel, slightly to the left. There are 2 trails that you can take up. One of them is really close to the right of the wheel and the other is to the left, a bit further down. Walk up either trail for a few minutes and you are there. The trail to the left would be easier if its your first time. The trail on the right of the wheel spits away from a mountain bike trail (to the left) shortly after you start walking up.

Large spring on the right hand side of the road on the way our of Port Alberni towards Tofino/Ucluelet. Black pipe sticks out of the rocks but flows all around.

Recent lab test results from a user:

“Total Coliforms (DES) was 38.4 MPN/100mL and recommended to be <1 MPN/100mL
E. coli (DES) was <1.0 MPN/100mL and recommended to be <1MPN/100mL

The spring runs cold and continuous. The spring is along side the road in a forested area, ‘in the middle of no where’.

The Total Dissolved Solids were 110 mg/L

The pH was 7.9

There were no other notable contaminants.”
