Artesian Well at Paradise Cove

Description:

Enjoy a nice cool drink before and after you visit the beautiful park that is also located there.

This artesian water source was found when the village of Winslow dug a new well. Now the excess water flows out of the supply building through pipes into a nearby creek. A spigot has been installed so that anyone can visit and fill as many containers as they want. The water is tested twice each month.

Found this site quite by accident driving country roads in 2001 through IL – it was the summer, and the Paradise Cove park was lovely despite the mosquitoes. The old fresh spring water was the best I had ever tasted. I know of a few other springs but this one is my favorite. Depending on which way you drive through town, the sign marking the spring is easy to miss. I appreciate the historical / informational marker that tells about the spring and the community's stringent water quality testing for purity.

This location is a little hard to find. You need to turn to the west from the main road through town just before or after the creek. From the north side of the creek you will have to walk across the covered bridge. If you pull through the BP driveway you will see the covered bridge on your left.

Thank you, my wife and I with one of our young daughters came to try your water. It’s a nice looking small town and we plan on returning to not only get water but spent some money in your town to show our appreciation. Take care & God bless.

Can I get a complete analysis of the water from the township? Was wondering what types of ions and how much of each (calcium, sodium, ect… In ppm).

We just got back from this place this evening. It was our first time out there, so for anyone looking for something a little more solid as far as directions go, here’s what I figured out on my own. It’s right behind Grace Bible Church. But to get into it, you’ll see a sign that reads “Paradise Cove” and an arrow pointing towards the right direction. Basically if you are directly infront of the building, you take that small tiny road to the left of Grace Bible Church and take that down to the Well. Just a heads up, if you took a turn and see a cemetery on your right hand side, then you turned on the actual street and not that little drive way type road directly to the left of Grace Bible Church. We went in the evening when it was dark (it got dark as we drove) and the water continues to run, which is really nice. It’s also nice that they check the quality of the water twice a month. My advice though is be careful, since the area you stand on to gather the water can be a tad slippery. 12/28/2011
