Hiking Loop Near Multnomah Falls
Directions from Nearest Address
Off highway 30. Park at Multnomah Falls lodge. It is a 3 mile hike to the source. You can grab a map of the hiking loops at Multnomah Falls Lodge. This is a great spring. If you are cruising through Oregon and want to stretch your legs on a nice 3 mile hike to a spring, this is the spring to visit. Bring a backpack full of empty bottles for later. Also depending on what time of year you go there are wild salmon berries, blackberries, and thimble berries growing along the trail all the way to the spring.

Hours Spring is Open:
Not sure, usually 24 hours but I have heard it is sometimes closed when the Marines are using the field for a party. (You have to walk thru the field to get to the spring.) The spring is on private property owned by the Marine Corps League, a fraternal group for current and former members of the service, but the fountain is open to the public when they are not using the field.

Description:
This spring flows year round.
“We do not test this water and do not advise the public that it is intended for drinking. It’s strictly an aesthetic feature of the park. If anyone chooses to drink the water they do so at their own risk.” – Kent County Parks Department
“Independent testing showed no biologicals present however nitrates were @ 4.6 which indicates runoff from surrounding agri makes drinking this undesirable.” – Dan Skwarek
